About LAVNS:
Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service provides compassionate Hospice and intermittent Skilled Nursing, Physical Therapy, and Medical Social Services to Los Alamos County, northern Santa Fe County, and parts of Rio Arriba County.
Position Summary:
The Executive Director (CEO/Administrator) is a qualified individual appointed by the Board of Directors to administrate, direct, and coordinate all agency activities. Operating under the Board’s direction, this role includes overseeing compliance with state and federal regulations, managing fiscal operations, hiring and training qualified staff, and serving as the agency’s official representative. The Executive Director may also serve as the Clinical Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
- Licensed physician, registered nurse, or holder of an undergraduate degree
- At least one year of supervisory or administrative experience in home health care or a related healthcare program
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee agency development and administration in compliance with federal and state guidelines
- Keep the governing body informed through written reports and regular attendance at board meetings
- Employ and orient qualified personnel and ensure continuing education
- Develop and maintain financial systems that reflect the agency’s fiscal position
- Negotiate and oversee service contracts in accordance with policy
- Maintain liaison between governing body, QAPI Committee, and staff through regular meetings
- Develop administrative policies and procedures
- Improve work methods and procedures to meet program objectives
- Review and evaluate agency policies through periodic assessments
- Coordinate all functional phases of agency activities through regular supervisory meetings
- Communicate and enforce policies across the organization
- Establish measurement standards and coordinate annual evaluations
- Collaborate on the preparation of the annual budget
- Approve expenditures and monitor the agency’s financial position
- Prepare reports on agency operations for the Board and QAPI Committee
- Define organizational authority and assign responsibilities
- Approve all hiring, terminations, salary changes, and promotions
- Authorize procurement of equipment and supplies
- Lead awareness and outreach initiatives
- Represent the agency at the local, state, and national levels
- Promote ongoing staff education
- Manage fringe benefits and insurance programs
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and agency policies
